| What are the benefits? Rapid availability We can have the right person commencing work with you in less than 10 days, and our interims are selected for their ability to "hit the ground running". Access to specific skills Whatever situation your business is facing, there is someone who has been there before - and sometimes a specific skill-set is only needed for a limited period. For example, interim managers with restructuring experience can often be the right choice for a difficult period of downsizing. Compared to existing management, interims may have more restructuring expertise. Also, the incumbent manager who leads a restructuring programme may find it hard to revert to "steady-state" mode, and to be accepted by the organisation in this type of role again. Bringing a fresh view All organisations and management suffer from introspection. An interim can bring a freshness of approach that really benefits your organization. Impartiality, no agendas, no politics Interim managers are there to manage - they don't come with any hidden agendas or organisational politics. Their approach is based on best professional managerial practice, delivered in an impartial way. Cost flexibility An obvious benefit is the avoidance of increased overhead - for senior staff, including all costs, this can be very significant. Taken on a pro-rata basis, interim daily rates appear greater than the cost of permanent management. However, when all relevant costs, including pension provision, stock options, bonuses, expenses are taken into account, the real cost can often be less. Interim management can also be an excellent alternative to consultancy. For example, a very experienced Project Manager will cost only 50-60% of a similar person coming from a large consulting house. There is also the added benefit of avoiding the “baggage” of inviting a consultancy into your organisation. Easy termination Unlike permanent management, interims can be terminated at very short notice, with no risk to you. With an interim, issues such as termination bonuses or severance packages do not arise. This brings great flexibility to react should your situation or needs change. |
